I’ve had lots of positive personal changes since joining CrossFit South Delta. I’m certainly healthier than ever and definitely a different shape than before I started, but the changes that I value the most are how consistently happy I am on a daily basis and how my work and personal stress levels are much more manageable.
A big part of that is due to the positive and encouraging atmosphere at CrossFit South Delta. Our coaches are fantastic at creating and adapting workouts that safely challenge us to keep learning and developing while matching up to our individual abilities and needs. Had I known just how supportive our environment is, I would have joined much sooner.
Crossfit South Delta is a place for all! Jeordie and Terri-Lyn bring their knowledge, passion and care to each and every person as soon as you walk through the door. You feel welcomed like a member of the family. That is what they have cultivated at Crossfit South Delta, a family that all supports one another.
Whether you are an elite athlete or someone who is really struggling to start to move, we all have a story and at Crossfit South Delta it doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, what matters is that you have walked through the door. It’s a workout like no other. Challenging, sometimes humbling and always fun! I can’t imagine Ladner now without out it and I am so proud to be a member.
Two years ago I was a 220lb -on a good day- couch potato, 50 year old father of three boys. I had done no serious exercise since running half marathons nearly 30 years ago.
I’d had some forays into gym life following a shoulder injury but the lack of instruction and interaction with others dampened the experience. With a minimal program it quickly became mundane and samey.
I had an idea of CrossFit as one of my sons had started and my sister had sung its praises for some time. I signed up for the intro class which only highlighted how unfit I knew I was. Couldn’t do more than 3 push-ups, could only hold a plank for about 20 secs, no pull ups at all and hated the burpee. The next three or four days were painful but I went back and carried on with the intro classes. Over the next few weeks Terri-Lyn took me thru the basics of weight lifting and the core movements of CrossFit but it wasn’t until I took the plunge into a regular class did the real benefit of CrossFit dawn on me, the people around you who welcome you, encourage you, accept you and ultimately push you to achieve more than you thought. CrossFit is not a gym full of young trendy people only there to look good, CrossFit is not full of machines with cup holders and tv screens. CrossFit is where the machines have two arms and legs and where the spirit of community is thriving. I have no means to compare other boxes as I have never been but the team and the community of CFSD have set the bar high. I am now 52 years old and have never been in better shape in my life. Combined with smarter eating and CrossFitting 3 - 4 times a week I have dropped well over 40lbs but gained strength, stamina and friends. Jeordie and Terri-Lyn will listen to you, support you, encourage you, push you and annoyingly show you that working out is fun, addictive, challenging and rewarding. Would I recommend CrossFit? Without hesitation! Do it to be healthy and gain a great sense of achievement. Simon, 52 and getting younger every day! PS – Still hate burpees!
He taught me pretty much everything I know about how my body works when I move. He influenced my decision to be a Precision Nutrition coach. He encourages me to stay consistent with my mindfulness and to keep moving every day, no matter how I feel. We have some deep and meaningful conversations while he is kicking my ass. I am blessed and full of gratitude for my friendship with Ty.
My husband had been attending Crossfit for several years and had been trying to get me to join for almost as long. I always said no, thinking it would be way too difficult for me and that I wouldn’t fit into the atmosphere at a place like that. My daughter started training with Ty, was going to classes and really enjoying it. I decided to be brave and said I’d try it.
I had a tremendous amount of anxiety going into my first appointment with Ty. It was extremely uncomfortable for me to walk into that gym at almost 50 years old and over 100 lbs overweight. Ty immediately put me at ease with his kind and friendly manner and I decided to join.
Throughout our sessions, Ty always encouraged me to work hard while remaining mindful of my physical limitations by “scaling” the exercises to my capabilities. I have now been going to classes and feeling more comfortable each time. I can see myself gaining more strength and mobility. Amazingly, with Ty’s help I am becoming a “Crossfit enthusiast”!
Although Ty has left our gym for another career opportunity, I will continue to keep in touch with him and am happy to call him my friend. As I told him, he is the first person who has made want to exercise! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ty and Crossfit in general. If I can do it, anyone can with the coaching and encouragement.
When I walked into my first CrossFit gym 5 years ago, Tyler was the first coach I met. I was immediately drawn to his contagious personality! Tyler really takes the time to get to know every client of his. He genuinely cares not only about your fitness goals, but your overall health and wellness.
My 57-year-old month NEVER thought she could join a Crossfit gym. She was extremely nervous and intimidated by the competitive athletes and atmosphere. My mom started personal training with Tyler in 2014 and he helped her gain enough confidence to join classes within 2 months. My mom always came home with a huge smile on her face and felt accomplished every time she completed a class.
She is now accomplishing goals she never thought were possible! She has come SO far in her 3 year CrossFit journey and I have Tyler to thank for that. No matter what your fitness goals are, weather you are a competitive athlete or beginning your fitness journey from scratch...I would highly recommend Tyler
Alex Anderson is an outstanding yoga instructor and human. She is one of the most kind, caring, giving, passionate people that I have ever met. Her classes are my absolute favorite! She is very knowledgeable in yoga practice as well as the human body and fitness.
Alex is not only a fantastic practitioner; she is also an excellent teacher, instilling a love of yoga in her students with her skill, passion & compassion. She is incredibly helpful to her students, inside and outside of the studio. She makes everyone feel welcome & comfortable.
Alex has helped me grow in my personal yoga practice through sharing her passion with me as a student, giving corrections, and having excellent classes. She is a beautiful girl inside and out and I am very thankful to have met her and to be able to take her classes every week!
I have had the privilege of taking class with Alex Anderson for the past two years. Alex has a great respect for yoga and for all her students that participate in the classes. Her knowledge of the practice is peaceful yet disciplined.
She takes the time to get to know the clients of the studio and their specific needs and watches them during class and takes time to discuss their practice with them or helps to adjust during class. Alex teaches from the heart and helps to facilitate unforgettable yoga journeys for her students that are life changing.
She provides balanced instruction, to mixed abilities, personalities and ages to the classes making the environment welcome to everyone. Alex is caring, calm, inspiring and graceful which personally enables me to challenge my fears knowing she is their supporting my yoga practice on and off the mat.
Alex is an extra ordinary soul who touches the heart of everyone who comes through the studio door, inspiring, challenging, engaging and connecting with them.
